Rent or buy a scooter?

Do you need a scooter for a few months or for years? That answer changes the rent-versus-buy comparison. Start with how long and how often you expect to ride.

When renting makes sense

Renting lets you test daily scooter use without paying the purchase price upfront. It can suit a temporary project, an uncertain schedule or someone still choosing between models.

At rent125.ro, the minimum term is four weeks: 1,200 lei for a Piaggio model or 1,400 lei for the Honda PCX. Before signing, ask about deposits, maintenance, insurance, mileage and damage terms. Do not assume these items are all included in the weekly rate.

When buying may make sense

If you ride consistently and already know which model suits you, buying gives you long-term control of your vehicle. Add maintenance, insurance, consumables, possible repairs and depreciation to the purchase price.

A simple comparison

Estimate the number of weeks you will ride. For renting, multiply by the weekly fee and add any costs you owe under the agreement. For buying, add the purchase price and expected costs over the same period, then subtract your estimated resale value. A seasonal trip and daily riding for two years may lead to different choices.
